I am an entrepreneur. What does that mean?

I am an entrepreneur. What does that mean? I tell people this when they ask me what I do. Often hard to describe to others what it is I do. A visionary, a creative with a passion for problem-solving and trying to constantly improve and connect dots. And that's hard for people to get if you ask what I do.So I say entrepreneur because somehow I think that's easier for people to understand what I do even though it says nothing about what I do, more about who I am. And most peoples response. Oh, that's cool! I wish I could do that. I have always wanted to start a business etc. Here is the dictionary definition. "a person who organizes and manages any enterprise, especially a business, usually with considerable initiative and risk." But I want to share a bit of truth for me about what I have found about being an entrepreneur. One of the biggest challenges with entrepreneurship is that it can be lonely. People who have "jobs" it is often balanced, their highs might not be that high, but in turn their lows are not that low. With entrepreneurs, there is still balance, but the highs are so good, you feel like your on top of the world, but the lows are so low. And I think this is why many people wish they were entrepreneurs, but not many people actually do. All of us want the highs but no one wants the big lows. If your an entrepreneur, you need to have the courage to not seek the highs but to endure the lows, it is dangerous and it can be very lonely in those lows. And the only way to successfully manage the lows is with other people. And this is the other part of my belief in business and in life, is that we are stronger together, especially as entrepreneurs. We all have strengths and weaknesses. We can all look out for one another in the lows, and be humbled because we did it together when we celebrate the highs. Where you can laugh together celebrate together and cry together. Showing up to learn and showing up to give, and doing this in a collaborative trusting team environment, is I find the best way to be an entrepreneur. I don't feel that you can be a successful entrepreneur alone. You have to have people who have your back. Because the highs always feel so good. But its the courage to struggle through the lows, where you have got to have people who believe in you even when you stop believing in yourself.
